There are many ways you can support the Speech & Hearing Center, and we appreciate each and every one of our donors, advocates, and volunteers.
In-kind donations are also always welcome, as we can often use school and art supplies, general office supplies and furniture, and toys/games appropriate in facilitating speech and language therapy. Call 423.622.6900 to inquire about current, specific wish-list items. Thank you!
We pride ourselves on being able to serve everyone in our community. If you know someone who may have hearing loss and is in need of a hearing device, please encourage them to visit Ursula Chaplin at the Speech & Hearing Center. Our nonprofit organization or "business for good" model enables us to help both those with resources and those without. For those who can afford full priced hearing aids with us, a portion of every hearing aid sold goes to assist individuals who cannot afford speech therapy or audiology services. We offer the same pricing, models and quality of care as private entities.
This can be applied to those in need of speech-language evaluations and therapy as well. Please encourage those you know to seek the expertise of our full-time speech pathologists.
There are several opportunities throughout our organization to engage volunteers. We appreciate various skill sets and varying length of time commitments. If you are interested in learning more, please call 423.622.6900 to inquire about upcoming occasions.
A gift in your will, also known as a bequest, is a great way to support The Speech & Hearing Center and a powerful statement to others of your belief in our mission. Bequests are also fully deductible for federal estate tax purposes. There are three types of bequest:
This bequest directs that The Speech & Hearing Center receives all or a portion of the balance of your estate. This donation is given after all necessary costs and specific bequests have been met. A residuary bequest is a gift of whatever remains in your probate estate. If you have more than one residuary beneficiary, then you would make sure that the total passing to residuary beneficiaries equals 100 percent.
This bequest is a fixed percentage of the value of your estate at the time of your death. While the percentage will stay fixed, the amount passing to our organization will depend on the value of all your assets upon your death.
This is a bequest of a specific dollar amount that won’t fluctuate. This includes if your estate increased in value after you have signed your Will. Assuming your executor has sufficient assets to pay expenses, debts, taxes and the like, this bequest will not be reduced.
In conclusion, should you wish to remember The Speech & Hearing Center in your Will, we encourage you to provide the following bequest language to your attorney:
“I give, devise, and bequest all the residue, and remainder of my estate, or ____% (percentage) of my estate, or $_______(sum of money) to The Speech & Hearing Center, located in Chattanooga, Tn.”
Bequests provide important revenue in support of the mission of our organization. Additionally, these donations enable us to provide the highest quality programs and services to those in our care.
Please note that The Speech & Hearing Center is a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization and its full legal name is “The Speech & Hearing Center” The Speech & Hearing Center’s federal tax identification number is 62-0526644.
