Hearing Aid Repair & Maintenance

Service doesn’t end with your hearing aid dispensing. Devices purchased through us have a three-year warranty. If you don’t think your hearing aids are working properly, stop in and see us.

You may try to turn the hearing aid on in the morning and find that there is no sound or maybe the battery door has come unhinged. Things happen, even when the hearing aids are properly cared for.

Hearing aids are comprised of tiny electrical components that may experience wear and tear over time. Whether it’s simply due to aging or if the units have been exposed to moisture, excessive wax, debris or physical damage, we’ll assess the problem and get it fixed.

Repairs

We’re able to service most major manufacturers, whether your hearing aids were purchased from us or not. Many repairs can be done in the office and won’t require you to leave the hearing aid with us. If your hearing aids must be returned to the factory for repair, it will take about a week for return. Our audiologist will call to inform you when your device is ready for pick-up, as well as any additional repair fees.

Warranties

Devices come with a warranty when purchased new. If your warranty has expired, it is still possible to repair most hearing aids for a small fee, depending on the extent of the repair and the age of the device. Depending on the hearing aid manufacturer, this repair may come with a new year-long warranty. In the event your hearing aid is severely damaged and unable to be repaired, our professionals will work with you to determine what devices would be best for your current needs.

Maintenance

One easy way to keep your hearing aids in good working order is by properly caring for the devices. Regular maintenance and deep-cleaning will help them perform at their peak. This means cleaning them daily with a dry cloth, removing batteries at night to allow any moisture to evaporate and examining them periodically for any scratches, cracks or damages. To protect your investment, we recommend you bring your hearing aids in for regular cleaning every six months.

Here are some handy guides to keep your devices at their best:

Clean & Check Service Membership

We are now offering a monthly Clean & Check service membership. And you do NOT have to be a current patient of The Speech & Hearing Center to participate.

Pay $25, and receive unlimited drop offs throughout the month of your service membership purchase. This includes tubing changes, dome changes, wax trap changes and general cleaning of devices and ear molds. Turnaround time is same-day (if dropped off early enough and the audiologist’s schedule permits) or within 24 hours.

Note, this is for drop-off appointments only. Consulting with the audiologist or programming your device requires an office appointment with fee, if you’re out of warranty or didn’t purchase your devices at the Center. And any repairs that cannot be done in office, like receiver replacement or broken devices/charger, will incur additional fees out of warranty.
