You may not know about our industrial hearing testing program, but it’s been going strong for 50+ years.
Our HearMobile travels within a 250-mile radius to conduct OSHA-mandated hearing testing at manufacturing facilities. The goal is to ensure that workers’ hearing is not negatively affected by the environments they’re in day-in-and-day out, and that they are using the proper safety measures to stay protected.
Thanks to EPB, we’re hitting the road in a newly wrapped mobile hearing testing unit this month. Without their support, we couldn’t have made it possible. The vehicle went from a plain white horse trailer to a mobile storefront. It’s bold and memorable, with an eye-catching design and minimal text.
Here’s how we put it into action. We provide an end-to-end hearing conservation program that’s customized to meet clients needs. Minimal downtime and maximum efficiency.
From scheduling to day-of testing to final reporting, we’ve got it covered. We’ll put our expertise to work and do the heavy lifting.
With our mobile testing unit, clients realize the convenience of on-site hearing testing and guaranteed OSHA compliance. We service a 250-mile radius from our office and offer local follow-up for any retests or further evaluations.
Here are some of the additional benefits you’ll realize from partnering with us:
- Discounted retests for standard threshold shifts
- Discounted full work-relatedness hearing evaluations and reporting
- Discounted hearing aids for employees
We provide protection for both employees and business as a whole, and our pricing is competitive. It’s a win-win.
And as a nonprofit, we invest the revenue from our industrial testing back into the community. Your business will help provide therapy and hearing devices for those who would otherwise not be able to afford them.
“For 20 years, The Speech & Hearing Center has made hearing testing easy for us. Their team is very flexible, easy to work with and accommodating. They test quickly and efficiently, ensuring as little impact to operations as possible.” -Gerald Street, Environmental Health & Safety Manager, Komatsu America Corp.
Our Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) compliant services include:
Hearing Testing
Our Council for Accreditation in Occupation Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) certified technicians will provide on-site hearing testing in our mobile unit, meaning your employees never have to leave the jobsite. The testing trailer accommodates up to 6 employees at a time to minimize loss of work productivity. Onsite trailer-less testing is also available – whatever works for your business. We also offer onsite or in-office retesting, as needed.
Audiogram Review
Our director of audiology reviews all audiograms to determine if further testing is needed. Annual tests of each employee are compared to baseline hearing tests, and recommendations and referrals are made if a standard threshold shift (STS) occurs.
“I cannot say enough positive things about our experience with The Speech and Hearing Center!” – Penny Bates
Work Relatedness Evaluations
For those with a detected hearing issue, we can provide in-house evaluations. This includes a comprehensive review of the employee’s noise exposure and medical history to determine whether the hearing loss is work related.
Noise Monitoring & Mapping
We’ll identify areas in your plant where the noise exceeds OSHA’s 85-decibel action level. This includes 8-hour time weighted average (TWA) surveys and noise mapping. At the conclusion, you’ll have a comprehensive report of the tested areas.
Employee Training
An integral part of any hearing conservation program, our training materials are informative, thorough and, best of all, meet OSHA requirements. Video training can be conducted during onsite testing or independently at your convenience. Written materials are also provided to compliment the video program.
Comprehensive Reporting
The Speech and Hearing Center provides comprehensive reports, which strictly follow guidelines set by OSHA regulations for occupational noise exposure. Reports are provided in a timely fashion after each hearing testing session, so your records will always be up to date.
