Taylor Bostwick : President/CEO

Taylor Bostwick

President/CEO

Taylor has a bachelor of arts in mass communications from East Tennessee State University. Her experience extends from account executive at a full-service PR agency to internal corporate communicator at a Fortune 500 benefits provider to digital marketer at a boutique website development firm. Directly prior to joining the Center, she was marketing director for a commercial real estate developer. Now, she’s at the helm of the Speech & Hearing Center, ensuring day-to-day operations and long-view strategy meld together in harmonious execution.

Dr. Gretchen Switzer, Au.D., CCC-A : Audiologist

Audiologist

Dr. Gretchen Switzer drove more than 2,000 miles in an RV with her family from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho to be part of our team. She is a graduate of the University of South Alabama, where she earned her Doctor of Audiology, and has been in practice for more than 16 years. Dr. Gretchen’s experience extends from working with newborns to supporting seniors along their hearing journeys.

Jennifer Farner : Newborn Hearing Screener

Newborn Hearing Screener

Jennifer has a Bachelor’s of Science degree from the University of Georgia in Communication Sciences and Disorders. She also has a Master’s Degree from the University of Georgia in Special Education. She has experience as a special education teacher and early intervention specialist. Jennifer loves being a wife and the mom of 4 very active children. In her spare time, she loves attending sport events, camping, swimming and going to the beach.

Sandy Zabel : Director of Development

Director of Development

Sandy Zabel earned her bachelor of science in finance and accounting from Kansas State University. She has worked as an accountant, a financial analyst and a small business owner. Most recently, she helped shape the development department of another local non-profit; planning events, cultivating donor relationships and educating the community about the great work going on in support of our neighbors.

Aspen Salanco : Front Office Coordinator

Front Office Coordinator

Aspen is the first friendly face you see at The Speech & Hearing Center. She’s from Rossville, Georgia and graduated from Dalton State College with an associate’s degree in early childhood education. She has been in the medical field since 2018 and has more than ten years of customer service experience. Previously, she's held roles at several medical offices, including Consulate Healthcare, Conifer Health Solutions and Allied Eye, so she has what it takes to keep the front office running smoothly. When she is not at the Center, Aspen enjoys painting, baking and spending time with her husband Nick and their three cats Honey, Midnight and Luna.

Minnich Oakley : Office and Marketing Assistant

Office and Marketing Assistant

Minnich is currently attending the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga for a bachelor’s degree in business marketing. She is assisting around the office, as well as in marketing initiatives to help expand the Center’s reach throughout the area.

David Kuneman, CAOHC : Industrial Hearing Technician

Industrial Hearing Technician

David Kuneman is the Center’s CAOCH-certified industrial hearing technician. He travels to manufacturers around the region to help implement OSHA-compliant hearing conversation programs with our mobile hearing testing trailer. David hails from Augusta, Georgia and attended Augusta State University.

Evelyn Harmon : Industrial Hearing Manager

Evelyn is the industrial hearing coordinator for the Center’s hearing conservation testing program. She earned a bachelor of arts in marketing from Mississippi State University. She utilizes her many years of customer service experience to assist current and prospective clients meet and comply with OSHA standards. Her career background in management and sales lends to her success in this position.

Lorena Cavanaugh : Community Outreach Coordinator

Community Outreach Coordinator

Lorena Cavanaugh graduated from Georgia State University and has held several leadership roles in the community with brain injury, nonprofits and retail. In her role as community outreach coordinator, she is out and about, spreading the good word about the Center and its mission. This includes forming relationships with physicians, representing the organization at community events and speaking to area civic groups and professional organizations. Lorena loves to be a support, walking our patients through their entire hearing loss journey. She, too, went through that journey with us and says her hearing aids changed her life. She was so happy, she wanted to work at the Center to share the information and joy about improving hearing health. Lorena is passionate about helping people regain their hearing, because every day she gets to witness improvements in our patients’ quality of life.

Pam Hosterman, M.S. CCC-SLP : Director of Speech-Language Pathology

Director of Speech-Language Pathology

Pam Hosterman has been with the Speech & Hearing Center since 1984. She obtained her bachelor’s degree at Penn State University and her master’s degree at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. Pam is a member of The American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) and is a certified dispenser for SpeechEasy®, an anti-dysfluency devise. Pam believes that a child’s development of communication skills is crucial for building strong self-confidence. She also enjoys instructing and encouraging parents on working with their children so they can help them meet their learning potential. Pam is a licensed speech-language pathologist in Georgia and Tennessee and is certified by the American Speech-Hearing Association (ASHA).

Carla Wiksell, M.A., CCC-SLP : Senior Speech-Language Pathologist

Senior Speech-Language Pathologist

Carla Wiksell is a senior speech-language pathologist and has been with the Speech & Hearing Center since 1991. In her role, she provides therapy services for patients of all ages and heads up the Center’s screening program at area schools. Prior to the Center, she served as a speech-language pathologist for Bardstown City Schools in Kentucky. Carla obtained her bachelor’s degree at Murray State University and her master’s degree at University of Tennessee at Knoxville. She is licensed in Georgia and Tennessee and is certified by the American Speech-Hearing Association (ASHA). She is also a certified dispenser for SpeechEasy®, an anti-dysfluency devise.

Rebecca Winkler, M.S., CCC-SLP : Speech-Language Pathologist

Speech-Language Pathologist

Becky is a bilingual speech-language pathologist who enjoys helping children of all ages improve their ability to communicate. She has a bachelor's degree in psychology and Latin American studies from Brandeis University and a master's in communication sciences and disorders from the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions. Prior to becoming a speech therapist, Becky was a teacher for six years in grades K-2. She provides therapy in both English and Spanish and is licensed in Tennessee and certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). In addition to spoken language, Becky is passionate about reading and has over ten years of experience providing literacy intervention for struggling readers.

Katherine Nyquist, M.S., CCC-SLP : Speech-Language Pathologist

Speech-Language Pathologist

Katherine Nyquist is a speech-language pathologist with professional experience in pediatric speech and language therapy in the Georgia school system. She received her bachelor of arts in communicative disorders and master of science degree in speech and language pathology from the University of Alabama. Katherine has a certificate of clinical competency (CCC), as given by the American Speech-Language Association. She is passionate about helping individuals of all ages communicate in engaging and meaningful ways.

Ava Mathis, MSOT, OTR/L : Occupational Therapist

Occupational Therapist

Ava received her Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (MSOT) from Brenau University in Gainesville, Georgia. She has over seven years of experience as an Occupational Therapist. Ava is passionate about helping others, especially helping children to thrive in daily life and to enhance their overall wellbeing. She enjoys spending time with her family, reading, being outdoors, and traveling.

Beth Lowe : Newborn Hearing Screener

Beth Lowe

Newborn Hearing Screener

Beth has a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from the University of Illinois. She worked in account management at a market research company and as a promotions manager at The Greater Chicago Food Depository before moving to Chattanooga. As a Newborn Hearing Screener, Beth loves working with babies.

Pam Burrows : Newborn Hearing Screening

Pam Burrows

Newborn Hearing Screening

Pam grew up in Chattanooga, where she raised two children. She has over 30 years of experience with children and infants, including daycare management, elementary substitute teaching and as a personal nanny. Working as a newborn hearing screener allows her to continue the passion she has for the health and wellbeing of babies.
